Music to the ears as MSC Cruises heads for Northern Europe*

The experience of cruising across the waters of Northern Europe has been heightened by MSC Cruises’ launch of a program that focuses on the breathtaking beauty of the Norwegian fjords and the enchanting charms of the Baltic capitals — all at bargain prices.

Music to the ears is MSC Orchestra’s series of 14-night round-trip cruises from Denmark’s Copenhagen — all of which call into such fascinating ports as the Estonian capital of Tallin, historic St Petersburg, the Scandinavian capitals of Stockholm (Sweden) and Oslo (Norway), Kiel in Germany, and colourful Bergen  — with cruise-only prices starting at $2078 per person, twin-share.

Accompanying the stylish MSC Orchestra for the two-week Northern Europe cruises is MSC Poesia, with prices from Copenhagen starting at $2188pp, twin-share.

“When you consider the impressive ports of call and how well cruises are priced, the Northern Europe program is an exciting one,” said Lynne Clarke, managing director of MSC Cruises (Australia and New Zealand).

“The itineraries provide cruise fans with the opportunity to explore a new region and experience something glorious and wonderful. And the fact that the Australian dollar is strong allows us to have more buying power when it comes to spending.

“Northern Europe and such colourful destinations as Bergen (Norway), St Petersburg, Stockholm and Copenhagen are sure to appeal to passengers who have before holidayed on the Mediterranean and are seeking new ports and experiences.

“Our cruises will introduce passengers to a beautiful and very fascinating part of the world.”

Prices are inclusive of on-board meals and entertainment, invitations to a Captain’s cocktail party and gala dinner, and port charges.

And for holidaying families, children under 18 cruise free, providing they share a cabin with two adults, a policy adopted by MSC Cruises on all its cruises (port charges of $440 per child apply).

MSC Cruises’ Northern Europe program runs from May–September 2011. Affordable airfares from Australia to Denmark can be arranged when booking the cruise.

MSC Cruises is the world’s leading cruise company in the Mediterranean, South African and Brazilian markets and has a modern fleet of 11 ships — MSC Splendida and MSC Fantasia (both the largest ships ever built for a European ship owner’s fleet), MSC Poesia, MSC Orchestra, MSC Musica, MSC Sinfonia, MSC Armonia, MSC Opera, MSC Lirica and MSC Melody. MSC Magnifica, the newest ship in the fleet, was launched in March 2010.

The fleet cruises year-round in the Mediterranean and seasonally in Northern Europe, the Atlantic Ocean, the Caribbean, North America and Canada, South America, the Indian Ocean and South and West Africa.

MSC Cruises is the only company in the world to receive the “6 Golden Pearls” award from the Bureau Veritas in recognition of its high level of quality management and environmental responsibility.

MSC Cruises has also achieved ISO 9001 and ISO 22000 certification for the quality and food safety of all aspects of its catering, both onshore and onboard.

The Italian cruise company also cares about the welfare of children, and as a responsible market leader believes in making a positive impact in the regions where it operates. In 2009, the company recently formed a partnership with UNICEF to fund a community project aimed at providing disadvantaged children in Brazil with a quality education.
