Bob Lepisto in Sydney this week ... offering Australians "a very appealing proposition". Photo: Louise Goldsbury (www.cruiseweekly.com.au) |
POSTED: 02 MAY 2009 SeaDream offer eases the tyranny of distance Bob Lepisto, President of the SeaDream Yacht Club, one of the world’s leading luxury boutique cruise operations, flew into Sydney this week with a special offer for his Australian customers. “We appreciate that Australians have to make a significant commitment just to get to our Mediterranean and Caribbean areas of operation and we want to make sure that they get maximum value out of their airfare dollars and their travelling time,” he said. To that end, SeaDream is offering Australians an additional and exclusive 15 per cent discount on top of any existing discounts for the company’s cruises, and a 30 per cent discount on a second cruise if they elect to take the two cruises back-to-back. “Most of our cruises are of five-to-nine-days duration so putting two cruises together would have you on board SeaDream I or Seadream II for about two weeks, and I think that’s a very appealing proposition if you have to fly to Europe or the Caribbean to join your ship,” said Bob. There are, of course, numerous possible cruise combinations available. Starting late November this year in the Caribbean, for instance, you could follow a five-night cruise from St Philipsburg (St Maarten) to San Juan (Puerto Rico) with nine nights from San Juan to Charlotte Amalie (St Thomas). Total cost would be $US4582 per person, twin share, compared with the original full price of $US12,800. A Mediterranean option this October would be a combined 15-night cruise from Alexandria to Piraeus (Athens) and on to Barcelona, at a total price of $US8478 per person twin share compared with a full original price of $US16,800. SeaDream prices include five-star dining, wines with all meals, drinks from the bars, nightly cocktail functions, use of a 50-course golf simulator, power and sail watersports, onboard gratuities, port charges and taxes. Over a media luncheon at Sydney’s Customs house, Bob Lepisto was at great pains to stress the boutique “yachting” nature of SeaDream I and II. “Some of the big, new cruise ships have started promoting ‘onboard neighbourhoods’,” he said. “We take a maximum of 56 couples on our cruises. That’s quite a difference. And, remember, they’re served by 95 crew almost a one-to-one ratio. “And because of the small size of our ships we can get into smaller ports that the others wouldn’t even consider. I sincerely believe that we offer a unique experience.” To take full advantage of this exclusively Australian offer, bookings must be made before 31 May, for sailings any time before the end of the year.
