Boompaa! A stellar cast for Blue Mountains reading

Jack Thompson, Tiriel Mora and Gareth Harris are headed for Katoomba’s Hotel Gearin later this month for two script-in-hand performances of Art, Yasmina Reza’s award-winning smash-hit comedy.

Christopher Hampton’s translation of the play will be read on 23 and 24 July at 8pm.

Reza explores what makes and breaks friendships. Are we who we think we are... or who our friends think we are? Winner of a Tony Award for Best Play and The Evening Standard Award for Best Comedy, Art has been translated into more than 20 languages and been a smash hit around the world, including on the West End and Broadway.

When Serge invests in a piece of modern art, it’s more than just his bank balance that takes a hit. His best friend, Marc is outraged at the purchase and disgusted by the painting, while their other best friend, Yvan, tries to placate both sides of what is escalating to a nasty rift.

This is a unique opportunity to see and hear an award-winning script read by an amazing cast in an intimate setting.

Phone 02 4782 4395 to book show plus pre-show dinner ($25). Or just turn up at the door for show only ($10), but be there early!

The Hotel Gearin is at 273 Great Western Highway, Katoomba.

The event is being held in association with Boompaa, an organisation dedicated to the establishment of a fully fledged performing arts space in the Blue Mountains. Its chairman is Jack Thompson.
