Hollywood buzz for Tamarama Rock Surfers*

The first annual Hollywood Fringe Festival kicked off on Thursday and runs until 27 June at various venues in and around the heart of Hollywood.

Sydney theatre company Tamarama Rock Surfers is proud to announce that two of its development alumni have productions being showcased in the festival.

Writer/director Sarah Doyle’s Shiny White Diamonds and Jay Ryan’s amazing one-man show The Packer are both on the Hollywood program.

Sarah Doyle says of her relationship with Tamarama Rock Surfers: “The Durfers have been instrumental in my success as a playwright. They not only hosted a public developmental reading of this play, but have been very, very supportive of my other plays, coproducing three others to sell-out houses.

“But it’s more than that. Over the years it’s been the conversations about my writing that have really steered me on. TRS are absolute rock stars in their dedication to developing voices in Australian theatre.

“I never would have got this far were it not for their support. I’m absolutely stoked to have been selected to be part of the first Hollywood Fringe Festival.”

Both Jay and Sarah have developed works with Tamarama Rock Surfers over the past few years, resulting in the production of highly acclaimed productions at The Old Fitzroy Theatre in Sydney’s Woolloomooloo.
