Bondi opens its doors to the Orange Region

Taste Orange @ Bondi kicked off today, heralding a raft of activities and events that will showcase the regional diversity and collaboration within the Orange food and wine region.

Taste Orange @ Bondi is now in its fourth year and forms part of the Waverley Council’s Bondi Winter Magic Festival.

“Our partnership with Bondi has really blossomed over the past four years,” said Taste Orange Executive Officer, Kim Currie.

“We are attracting more and more Sydney people, which in turn is inspiring more of the Orange producers, artists and musicians to join in the festivities.”

“There is an increasing understanding and appreciation of our region and its ability to make premium wine and grow flavoursome produce. Consumers want to learn more about where their food is grown and Orange’s accessibility and diversity is certainly capturing their attention.

“One of the key attractions of Taste Orange @ Bondi is the number of vignerons in attendance. As a small region, it is the winery owners, including the actual winemakers, who are pouring the wines and meeting the people.”

The week will culminate in Taste Orange Sunday on the 29 August at the picturesque Bondi Pavilion. This exciting family event will feature 34 stalls. This comprises 21 Orange vignerons, including Philip Shaw, Patina, Printhie, Ross Hill and Angullong, as well as chefs, food producers, brewers and apple-cider makers.

Cooking demonstrations by Lesley Russell and Lucas Parsons will be complemented with live music from with Orange’s ‘Indigobelle’ and the Orange Regional Conservatorium’s Big Band.

Local Orange artists are also getting involved with the Art a L’Orange Exhibition’, curated by Alan Sisley of the Orange Regional Gallery.

“This is an exciting exhibition for us and a great opportunity to show our city cousins the scope, depth and talent of the Orange artists,” said Alan.

The exhibition can be viewed during the week at the Bondi Pavilion, with all works available for purchase.

Individual winemakers will be teaming up with Bondi restaurateurs, matching Orange wines with a diverse range of foods including seafood, Italian and tapas.
