The Cabernet Sauvignon class was one of the highlights of the show, with one of the highest percentage of wines winning medals. Judges comments included, “a very good class with the top gold a wonderful example of the medium bodied claret style. Perfect luncheon wine,” referring to the wine that went on to win Best Wine of the Show, the 2009 Ross Hill 'Family Series' Cabernet Sauvignon.

Merlot also continues to improve within the region, with the judges comments mentioning that “the best wines were lovely bright, fresh and medium bodied, with an easy unforced character.”

“It was another very successful wine show,” commented the Wine Show Committee President Lucy Maddox.  “We are very fortunate to have such experienced judges prepared to support our region; the result will be ongoing improvement in the quality of the wines being made in Orange.”
