Postcards from Bangalow Writing & Gourmet Experience heats up winter on the Northern Rivers
The inaugural Postcards from Bangalow Writing and Gourmet Experience is set to heat up the Northern Rivers this winter. Hosted by seasoned travel writer and guidebook author, Kim Wildman, this unique writing event, held in Bangalow on the Far North Coast of New South Wales from 10-13 June, will take participants on a travel-writing journey through the sights, sounds, scents and flavours of the Byron Bay hinterland.
The program for the three-day event features a prominent line-up of local writers, authors, foodies, providores and identities, including co-owner of Foodscape Tours, Karen Hirst, author of Boys’ Home to Broadway, Kevin Palmer, publisher of Sample magazine, Remy Tancred, and TV presenter, author and much-loved Bangalow identity, Scott McGregor, who’ll help Kim unearth the best of Bangalow through a series of workshops, dinners and tours.
Included in the weekend: three gourmet meals in atmospheric local restaurants, a visit to the Bangalow farmers’ market followed by a half day Foodscape hinterland tour taking in some of the region’s best producers, a guided historical walking tour of Bangalow and fun writing workshops as well as plenty of free time to allow your creative juices to flow.
If a weekend of writing, reflecting and enjoying the tastes and flavours of Bangalow isn’t enticement enough, Sample magazine the epicurean bible of the Northern Rivers is offering to publish the best travel article written over the weekend in the spring edition of the magazine.
Local businesses too including The Byron at Byron, SummerHills Retreat and Bangalow Limousines have shown their support by offering special discounts to participants on accommodation and transportation.
So grab your pen and paper, bring appetite and get ready for a fun weekend of good writing, good food and good company.
The three-day event cost $450 per person. An early bird discount of 5 per cent is available for bookings made by 30 April. Places are strictly limited. Contact Kim Wildman on 0400 887 991 or kim@wildwriting.com.au to make a booking now.
